CIRENCESTER Town Council said that there would be some areas of open space that it would let grow wild during No Mow May.
A spokesperson for the council said: “No Mow May is an important opportunity to raise awareness about how vital our open spaces are to our wellbeing, protecting and increasing wildlife habitats and making the environment better.
“While we will continue to cut the grass in residential areas, as well as sport and recreational spaces, there are some areas of open space that we will let grow wild.”
No Mow May is the yearly campaign by the Plantlife charity that invites lawn-owners not to mow in May.
The charity says that a healthy lawn with some long grass and wildflowers tackles pollution, helps wildlife and can even lock away carbon below ground.
