PRIDE celebrations, a big community lunch and a car show are just a few events taking place in Cirencester next month.

The blue skies mark the beginning of the summer and the town's social calendar is jam-packed with an array of wonderful events this June.

To start the month off with a bang, Pride in Cirencester returns to Abbey Grounds on Saturday, June 8.

Attendees can expect a kaleidoscope of culture, music and festivities in the park throughout the day.

Townsfolk and visitors will also able to enjoy two evenings of food, shopping and music in the Market Place on Saturday, June 8 and Saturday, June 22 between 6pm and 10pm.

Meanwhile, budding entrepreneurs will be showcasing their products alongside established traders at the annual YOUTH (which stands for ‘Youngest to Oldest and Upcoming, Trading in Harmony’) Market in the town centre on Saturday, June 15.

One of the most notable highlights of the month will be Cirencester Town Council’s free community summer event, The Big Lunch - which is being held at the Abbey Grounds on Sunday, June 16 between 12pm and 6pm.

This exciting event will acknowledge the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings with a modern take of wartime slogans such as “Dig for Victory” and “Make Do and Mend,” and will focus on ways to become more sustainable whilst giving the opportunity to celebrate our heritage and history.

The Abbey Grounds will be hive of activity filled with a variety of activities, games and entertainment, including a climbing wall, farm animals, a silent disco and live music from local performers.

There will also be an artisan market, traditional beer tent, and food and drink stalls but visitors are also encouraged to bring their own food and picnics to share with friends.

The busy month will conclude with another annual favourite, Cirencester’s Classic Car Show on Sunday, June 30 where visitors will be able to admire an array of cherished and unique vehicles.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Cirencester Housing for Young People (CHYP), to support their work young homeless people between the age of 16 and 25 in the Cotswold district area.
