Plans have been lodged to build a We Buy Any Car facility at a Wiltshire supermarket.

Morrisons has applied to build a We Buy Any Car pod within its car park on West Cepen Way, Chippenham.

This comes after the supermarket commissioned Whittam Cox Architects to expand the branch’s existing retail offering.

If approved, the pod will allow customers to sell their cars “quickly and easily”.

People can get an online quotation before taking their vehicle to the pod, where it would undergo an inspection and the sale would be agreed.

The pod will be positioned on two existing parking bays while a maximum of 10 cars will be parked at the site, for up to 72 hours, before being collected to be sold at auction elsewhere.

No cars will be sold from the car park, and it is expected an average of four to six vehicles will be parked at one time.

Whittam Cox Architects believes the proposal would pose no disruption to parking and travel, as the site would use spaces “out of the way” from where Morrisons customers park.

The firm believes the proposal would “revitalise” the car park.

It added: “The choice of location is not only complimentary to the existing use of the site but also purposefully promotes economic activity within a key retail location.”
