Swindon's history is full of fondly-remembered pubs that are no longer in business.

They provided a welcoming space for socialising and entertainment at the end of a long day or week, where countless punters made lasting memories and friendships while sampling a range of refreshing ales and spirits.

Several much-missed boozers have either changed hands or closed down completely over the years.

Some were later demolished, others received a completely rebranded makeover and a fresh coat of paint under new management, and a few now-empty

We've collected more than 20 of them into this gallery for a nice trip down memory lane.

These images offer a tour all over Swindon and its outskirts, from the Railway Village to Wroughton, Park South to Upper Wanborough, and span a number of decades from the late 1800s to the early 2010s.

Are there any old favourites that we've missed? Let us know and we'll have another look in our archives for future galleries.
