AN EMERGENCY lane closure has been put in place on one of Cirencester's busiest roundabouts due to an ongoing water leak.

Gloucestershire County Council recently put up cones to stop motorists from driving on the Gloucester bound lane on the Kingsmeadow Roundabout in Cirencester because the leak has damaged the road surface.

Investigation work into this issue is due to start on Monday, March 18 and GCC are currently unable to confirm when the lane will reopen.

Daniel Tiffney, deputy area highways manager for Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We have put a lane closure in place on the Kingsmeadow Roundabout in Cirencester, where the A429 and A419 meet, due to an ongoing water leak that is coming through the surface and resulting in some defects on the carriageway.

“The lane closure is needed so we can keep the travelling public safe and we apologise for any inconvenience.

"We will be starting investigative work into the leak on Monday, March 18.

"We are unable to say how long it will be in place for at this stage but will provide updates as soon as we can.”
