A NEW eco-friendly development has received Malmesbury's speediest striker's seal of approval.

This season’s top goal scorer for Malmesbury Victoria FC, Kyle Witt, took a victory lap around one of the new homes at Newland Homes' White Poplars estate.

The developer's sales and marketing director Marcus Evans grew up in the town and requested that one of the show home's five bedrooms be kitted out for a young aspiring Vics player.

Black and white stripes feature heavily in the bedroom's décor and one of the walls is green to represent a football pitch.

The club's secretary Brendon Rice was also invited to take a sneak peek of the Vics shrine inside the new five-bedroom Dodington show home this week.

The new development, just off Storey Mews in Malmesbury, comprises of 29 zero carbon homes.

They will all have solar panels, air source heat pumps and high levels of insulation, which will create as much prime energy as they need to run.

Marcus Evans said: “Kids bedrooms should be fun, and this is a playful and joyous room.

"Black and white stripes feature heavily and one of the walls is a luscious grass green to represent a football pitch.

"I’m personally delighted that Kyle and Brendon were able to join us to see our tribute to the Vics and take a tour of White Poplars, which is also looking terrific.”

Brendon Rice said: "Football provides a dream and focus for so many in the world and we are privileged to do our part in this.

"The Malmesbury Vics are super excited to welcome all the new families, and hopefully supporters, who will certainly be thrilled with these new homes.

"Who knows, there could be the next top striker, goalkeeper, groundsman or club secretary soon calling White Poplars home!”
