PATROLS will increase in Malmesbury over the next few days after an elderly man was targeted in an aggravated burglary.

Police believe that two men wearing face coverings entered a property in White Lion Park, Malmesbury while an elderly man was home alone between 9.45am and 11.10am yesterday morning, Thursday, February 22.

Nothing was stolen from the address during the incident but Wiltshire Police's burglary team are currently carrying out enquiries to identify those responsible.

Detective sergeant Ted Roe said: “We believe two men entered the house between 9.45am and 11.10am while an elderly man was home alone.

“We understand the men were wearing face coverings but we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area between these times.

“Officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area but we’d urge anyone with doorbell footage or dash cam which may be relevant to get in touch immediately.”

Inspector Gareth Edwards said: “Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while we go about our enquiries over the next couple of days – do not be alarmed by this.
