A WOMAN faces a whopping pay-out after being caught way over the drink-drive limit twice in Cirencester.

Karen Groome, aged 58, of Parkland Square, Cirencester, was more than three times the alcohol limit on both occasions.

Groome admitted driving a Suzuki Swift in Ashton Road, Siddington, having consumed 107 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35 micrograms - on Sunday, October 22.

She was also caught driving the same car in Bathurst Road, Cirencester having consumed 105 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath on Friday, January 26.

The cases were heard at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 15.

For these two offences, Groome has been fined £507, must pay a £114 victim surcharge plus £500 costs - a total of £1,121.

She has also been banned from driving for 28 months.

This could be reduced by 28 weeks if she completes a drink-driving course by September 30 next year.

A community order was also imposed stating that Groome must take part in alcohol treatment for six months and seven days of rehabilitation activity.
