A WARNING has been issued ahead of an upcoming four-night road closure in Cirencester's town centre.

The Market Place, Dyer Street and part of North Way are due be closed to all traffic between 8pm and 7am from Wednesday, March 6 until Monday, March 11 (excluding weekends) so that resurfacing work can be carried out.

Gloucestershire County Council has published the following map which shows the extent of the road closure.

Drivers have been advised to take alternative routes during this time frame.

A spokesperson for GCC said: "We will be resurfacing the road at the above location as part of our promise to invest a further £100 million in the county’s roads.

"To ensure the safety of you and our work force we have made a Temporary Traffic Order to close the road.

"Due to the type of engineering activities required with carriageway resurfacing, the road closure can cover an  area greater than the area being resurfaced.

"We appreciate road closures are inconvenient, but to keep you and the team working on the road safe it is necessary.

"We have planned the work so we can be in and out as quickly as possible and have tried to do it at a time that will minimise any inconvenience."
