A COACH has burst into flames on a busy route commuter near Cirencester.

It is understood firefighters are on their way to tackle the vehicle blaze on A417 near the The Golden Heart Inn - off from the Air Balloon roundabout. 

Eyewitness Jo Welch, public relations professional from Cirencester was driving back from Cheltenham with David Reach of RCH100, which they run together, when they drove past the incident and took these pictures. 

She said: "It was such a shock. I’ve never seen anything like it before!

"We didn’t know whether to stop or drive past through the black smoke.

"Queues of traffic both ways. I hope no one has been hurt!"

According to the AA traffic route website, there are currently delays on the A417 Westbound. 

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for a statement - they have now issued a statement below.
