A GROUP of teenagers assaulted a man outside a petrol station in Cirencester this week.

Police officers were called to Chesterton Lane in Cirencester at around 9.20pm on Monday, January 29 to a report of an assault on the forecourt of Shell petrol station.

A man, aged in his 20s, said he witnessed a group of boys attempting to shoplift and then was hit in the face with a pack of canned drinks by one of them.

This caused him to fall onto the floor, and two of boys proceeded to kick him in the head which caused facial injuries.

Police believe the boys were aged between 15 and 17 and were all wearing black clothing with their hoods up.

The group left with the pack of canned drinks following the assault and enquiries are ongoing to identify them.

Investigating officers are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to police to make contact.
