POLICE officers have urged residents to remove valuables from their cars after receiving more reports of vehicle thefts.

A handbag containing several cards was stolen (incident number 135) from a vehicle parked in Main Street, Coln St. Aldwyns sometime between 10.30am and 11am yesterday morning, Tuesday, January 23. 

The thief smashed the vehicle's passenger window in broad daylight to get to the bag which was hidden under a jacket on the front seat.

Similarly, a gym bag was stolen (incident number 84) from a vehicle parked in Park View, Stratton after the rear driver window was smashed sometime between 10pm on Monday, January 22 and 8am on Tuesday, January 23.

Police officers have asked anyone who witnessed either of these incidents to get in contact.

Information can be provided to the police by completing an online form on Gloucestershire police's website quoting incident number 135 or 84.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire police said: "Please make sure all valuables are removed from vehicles when left unattended and that vehicles are locked. 

"Please don't hesitate to call the police if you witness suspicious activity and dial 999 if you believe a crime is taking place.
