A WARNING has been issued ahead of an imminent road closure near The Air Balloon roundabout.

The top of Leckhampton Hill and a small section of the A436 will be closed between 9pm on Friday, January 19 until 6am on Monday, January 22.

During this time the A417 Missing Link Project's highways teams will begin creating a new site entrance off the A436 near the Air Balloon roundabout.

A diversion route will be in place via the A46, A40, A435 and A436.

The A417 will remain open in both directions but the A436 will not be accessible from the Air Balloon roundabout during this time.

Crickley Hill Country Park and National Star College will be open for business as usual.

Steve Foxley, project director for the A417 Missing Link, said: “We need this weekend closure to progress important work and help keep traffic moving and congestion to a minimum during this vital project.

“We acknowledge these closures will have an effect on people’s journeys, and we are advising people to plan ahead, allow extra time and we thank people in advance for their patience.

“We’ve communicated the forthcoming closures and changes to local communities and businesses and once that work is completed, we will be moving to the next stage which will see us start the build of the new offline section of the A417.”
