Traffic advice has been issued by Highways England amid a serious incident which has forced the closure of the M4 for eight hours so far.

There are three-mile queues on the approach to the M4 at junction 15 by Swindon after the route was closed both ways at around 10pm on Sunday.

At the time of writing the carriageway remains closed with rush-hour traffic already building.

Highways England has issued traffic advice for people travelling in the area as they expect to stay shut until lunch time.

The closure will enable investigations to take place in daylight.
