HUNDREDS of local families and visitors clustered around the Christmas tree at Fairford Market Place on Friday evening to mark the start of the festive period.

Santa Claus, accompanied by some cheerful elves, did the honours of brightening up Fairford's town centre on Friday, December 8.

After that excitement, the crowd of eager onlookers dispersed around the town centre to browse through more than 45 different gift and craft stalls.

The smell of hog roast wafted down the High Street and a long queue formed for the mulled wine stall.
