LAST SUNDAY marked the second Community Kitchen dinner in Cirencester.

The free dinner, which this time had a Mexican theme, was hosted and funded by parishioners from 3 local Catholic churches- St Mary’s in Cricklade, St Peter’s in Cirencester and St Thomas’ in Fairford.

Organiser Melissa Spagnoli said: "There are many wonderful charities supporting the community like Signpost, the Cirencester Foodbank and The Salvation Army.

Local Mexican restaurant, Burrito Mama of Cirencester, supported the event and donated authentic tortilla chips and salsa.

The menu also included a side of guacamole, tacos, tostadas and Mexican rice for mains, and mango mousse and sopapillas for puddings.

Chef Meliny Tim of The Kitchen Club contributed to the cooking and led the kitchen team.

Despite the rain and cold weather, 55 people attended and enjoyed a night of fellowship and Mexican food.

Melissa said: "The combined enthusiasm of the volunteers and the gratitude of the dinner guests is so lovely.

"It creates a tangible joy for everyone there."

The Community Kitchen hosts monthly themed dinners and provides a loving and festive dinner experience for those in a need of a warm meal.
