A MAN from Cirencester has been banned from the roads for driving while twice the alcohol limit.
Gareth Lewis, aged 53, of Bowling Green Road, Cirencester, was caught driving a Nissan X-Trail in Innsworth Lane, Innsworth, Gloucester, having consumed 70 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath on Sunday, June 18.
The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.
Lewis pleaded guilty to the offence at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, October 18.
He has been fined £120, must pay a £48 victim surcharge plus £185 in costs - a total of £353.
Lewis was also banned from driving for 17 months.
This could be reduced by 17 weeks if he completes a drink-driving course by Wednesday, September 18 next year.
