A BARBECUE chef has organised a special evening to help support families who are struggling to navigate the cost-of-living crisis and the looming winter months.

Head chef at Cirencester-based smokehouse Cheeky Swine Neil Johnson has decided to host a three-course meal at his pub Bee's Knees - which is situated in Watermoor Road, Cirencester - between 6pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday, November 1 to raise money for Cirencester Food Bank.

The local food bank was formed in 2012 and is part of The Trussell Trust network.

It supports individuals and families across a 210 square miles radius, covering the southern section of the Cotswold District, and provides three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food for people in crisis.

Alongside the food, it also provides other essentials such as household, hygiene, baby and pet products.

Mr Johnson said: “I think it is important to think local when choosing a charity.

"I am aware of the good work Cirencester Food Bank does and The Cheeky Swine team would like to do what we can for them."

Head of Cirencester Food Bank Anton Wynn said: “We are really pleased that Neil, and the team at Cheeky Swine, have chosen to support our charity.

"The ongoing cost-of-living crisis has resulted in people who have never needed to turn to a foodbank before needing our support.

"This winter has the potential to be even more challenging for local people facing hardship, and this fundraising event will ensure that we can continue to get essential support to those that need it."

The three-course menu has a fixed price of £35 per person.
