A LONG line of excited children and parents queued up outside a bookshop in Cirencester to meet a Death in Paradise actor on the weekend.

Ben Miller returned to Octavia's Bookshop - which is situated on Black Jack Street, Cirencester - on Saturday, September 2 to meet fans and give them signed copies of his new book Once Upon a Legend.

The actor and comedian first rose to fame as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller and has since starred in a number of popular television programmes and films such as Paddington 2, Death in Paradise, Bridgerton and Johnny English.

He has also written an array of best-selling children's books over the last few years such as The Night I Met Father Christmas, The Boy Who Made the World Disappear, The Day I Fell Into a Fairytale, How I Became a Dog Called Midnight and Diary of a Christmas Elf.

Ben Miller has done a lot of book signings at Octavia's Bookshop over the last few years, and the bookshop even got a special mention in one of his Christmas books.

Owner of the bookshop Octavia Karavla said: "He’s a local hero, not just because of his TV series and films but because of his fabulous children’s books.

"His books are brilliant, they are magical, gripping adventures, written in an accessible format with plenty of humour and some great characters-based on his own children.

"The queue for the book signing went all the way down the street past Jacks café and once he signed those, another queue formed.

"He is so wonderful to meet and talks to every one of his fans, young and old, no matter how big the turnout.

"He’s also very interested in what children think of his books.

"The atmosphere was amazing, and Ben is so lovely that everyone was super happy."
