HISTORY lovers will be able to explore the history and admire the architecture of a Victorian police station in Tetbury next weekend. 

Tetbury Victorian Police Station and Courtroom - which is situated at 63 Long Street, Tetbury, GL8 8AA - will open its door to the public as part of the Heritage Open Days programme on Saturday, September 9 between 11am to 3pm.

Visitors will be able to take a tour of this special Victorian building and admire the original station entrance and external stairs which have recently been restored to their former glory.  

Guests will get the chance to nose around the old cells and courtroom whilst informative guides share their vast knowledge of the building. 

Children can get stuck into activity sheets, colouring, puzzles and the catch the criminal mastermind board game.

There will also be historic cases to read and a working telephone with 999 calls from the early 20th century to listen too.

A special coronation display board about the Royal Household Protection Group is also still up to look at. 

After touring the old station, visitors can wander to the Market Hall between 10am to 4pm to look at a display of the town's history made the History of Tetbury Society.
