FAIRGROUND rides, retro vehicles and live music are just a few activities taking place at the Fairford Steam, Classic & Retro Show next weekend.

It has been nearly a decade since the last steam rally took place in Fairford, so Steve Evans - Fairford's Citizen of the Year 2023 - decided to take it upon himself to lead an enthusiastic team of volunteers to resurrect the event.

This year's steam show will take place in Lady Lamb Farm, Waiten Hill, Fairford, on Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20.

Visitors will be able to admire a vast array of classic vehicles, steam engines and static displays at the show.

There will also be an abundance of fairground rides, local charity stalls, a craft tent and food stalls to keep the whole family entertained.

People who intend to drive to the event have been advised to put GL7 4BT into their Sat Navs, or to use 'purely.alongside.parkway' on the what3words app.

Organisers have been overwhelmed by the support from local community.

Many businesses and individuals in the town have given financial support to the event or have donated services or goods.

The weekend's festivities will commence on Friday night (August 18) where steam engines will parade through Fairford Market Place.

In addition, there will be a special performance by Dr Busker at the farm on Saturday night (August 19).
