CIRENCESTER Town’s Corinium Stadium hosted a charity football match over the weekend to raise money for the Children’s Football Alliance.

Cirencester Town Vets played in blue against an all-star team in red involving actors from the British sitcom This Country on Sunday, July 2.

Charlie Cooper (Kurtan Mucklowe), Paul Cooper (Martin Mucklowe), Daisy May Cooper (Kerry Mucklowe) from This Country were in attendance along with special guests such as Mathew Baynton (from Ghosts, Gavin and Stacey, Horrible Histories), Felix White (The Maccabees), Ellis Platten (Youtuber), Jess Impiazzi (model).

All proceeds of the event went to the Children’s Football Alliance (CFA).

The CFA is a coalition of agencies and organisations that safeguard and advance the rights of children in football.

Their website explains: “Globally, children contribute immeasurably to the game of football as players, as fans, as workers and in many other ways.

"Without doubt, the power of football to be an influential and dominant force for good in the daily lives of children worldwide is enormous.

“As a humanistic voice and advocate for children, The CFA also acts as a focal point and network for those individuals and organisations seeking sustainable partnerships, information, education and/or training on child-centred approaches and children’s rights in football.”

At the final whistle, Cirencester Town Vets won 10 - 5.
