NATIONAL Highways has announced that night-time closures and temporary traffic lights will start on the A417 near Stockwell next week.

The highway agency will be undertaking drainage survey works on the A417 at Cowley/ Nettleton Bottom for ten days between Monday, July 3 and Thursday, July 13.

These works will be carried out in two phases, firstly by using temporary traffic lights which will then be followed by full night-time closures.

Between Monday, July 3 and Friday, July 6 traffic will be restricted on the A417, near the Golden Heart Inn, to one lane and traffic lights will be installed.

During this three-day period the traffic light measures will only be in place during the night from 9pm to 6am so delays should be minimal.

However, between Monday, July 10 and Thursday, July 13 there will be full road closures during the night (9pm - 6am) on the A417 Air Balloon roundabout to Cowley roundabout.

The road will be closed in both directions and an approved, fully signed diversion will be in place via the A429 and A436.

Motorists and local residents have been advised the plan their journeys accordingly.

The Golden Heart Inn will remain open for business and staff and customers will be escorted to and from the premises from Cowley roundabout.
