SEVERAL building teams in the Cirencester area have scooped up some prestigious awards.

Some of the best construction and built environment teams in the area were presented with accolades from the Cotswold District Council on Friday, May 12.

The Local Building Excellence Awards are designed to recognise exemplary projects delivering high-quality housing, building and civil engineering projects across the district.

These awards were presented by Cotswold District Council’s Building Control team.

The Best Social Housing Project award was presented to Bromford and E G Carter & Co Ltd for their housing project in Quercus Road, Tetbury.

The award for Best Commercial Barn Conversion went to Coombe End Farm and the award for Best Residential Barn Conversion was presented to The Barn at Berry Farm.

Best New Dwelling went to Ewen Barn for an exemplary new development in Cirencester.

An individual award was also presented to Rob Mustoe from local builders E G Carter & Co Ltd for Best Site Professional.

Each of the winners of the Local Building Excellence Awards will now be put forward for the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2023.

Cllr Juliet Layton, cabinet member for Development Management and Licensing, said: “I’m thrilled to be able to acknowledge the incredibly hard work that has gone into so many innovative projects from around the Cotswolds.

“Our building control team assessed over 600 projects delivered between January 1 2022 and December  31 2022.

"Key areas that were considered in the nomination process were the quality of workmanship, the merits of the development and how well it fitted into the environment.

"We also looked closely at development teams and their professionalism.

“The quality of design and workmanship that is on display from construction teams and other partners is outstanding.

"The Local Building Excellence Awards winners will now be nominated for the regional LABC Building Excellence Awards 2023 and we wish them the best of luck.”
