WORK is underway in Cirencester to transform the former TSB bank building into a Barbour store.
British luxury and lifestyle brand Barbour received planning permission from Cotswold District Council in January.
Plans include renovating the ground floor of the grade II listed building, installing signage, and repainting the shopfront.
The new store, located next to the old House of Fraser building in the Marketplace, will replace the old TSB building which closed its doors in June last year.
The shop - which is set to open on April 22 - will feature the region’s first official Barbour jacket rewax station where customers can bring their jackets to be re-waxed.
The shop is owned and operated by Barbour's partner, Cohesion Retail Group.
Jonathan Capener, Cohesion Retail Group MD and Founder, said: “I’m thrilled we have been able to locate the superb premises on Market Place in Cirencester.
“The store will showcase the very best of Barbour’s extensive range, including their classic and new season styles.
“The store will also host the region’s only official Barbour jacket rewax facility, where customers will be able to have their beloved wax jackets reproofed.
“We look forward with great excitement to the opening of the store in the spring.”
The shop will be open from 9.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
According to council documents, the new shop will also have a stockroom, a staff area, two changing rooms and a side room for specialised services related to waxing.
CDC leader Joe Harris, who is a Cirencester councillor, previously reacted to the news in a statement on Facebook.
He said: "It is always nice to see businesses showing their confidence in our town by opening new stores here.
"It also demonstrates that despite the economic turmoil nationally, Cirencester remains resilient."
The luxury brand is often a favourite amongst celebrities, royalty and the country set.
Updated: There are already some existing Barbour stockists in Cirencester this includes: Landmark, R Scott & Co and Jones Bootmaker.
