A FOOTBALL club in Cirencester will be hosting a community event for juniors next weekend.

Cirencester Town Football Club will be hosting a Junior & Community Day on Saturday, April 15.

Last year over 700 people attended the junior event.

It is aimed at giving children in Cirencester and the surrounding area a taste of non-league football free of charge.

With the continued support from local clubs such as Stratton Youth FC, Cricklade Youth FC and South Cerney Youth FC the day will kick off with a junior tournament in the morning where the under 9s and the under 10s age groups from each club play against each other.

Once the tournament ends there will be a quick bite to eat before everyone returns to the Corinium Stadium to watch Cirencester Town FC play against Walthamstow FC in the afternoon.

Cirencester Town FC looking are looking to achieve a playoff place in the race for promotion, and visitors Walthamstow FC currently occupy one of these sought after play off places.

Adults will have to pay half price for tickets.

Scott Griffin, office manager and football secretary of Cirencester Town FC, said: "This year we have been amazed by the support of local business Gardiner Haskins and this only adds to the community spirit of Cirencester.

"Their support has been invaluable, and they are even distributing vouchers in store for customers so they do not miss out on a fantastic day at The Corinium Stadium."

The junior tournament starts at 9am and the men’s first team game starts at 3pm.
