THE first zero carbon homes in Malmesbury are currently being built and they cost over £400,000.

Newland Homes have launched a collection of 29 energy efficient homes called White Poplars in Malmesbury which now available to reserve from local estate agents Strakers.

These three, four and five bedroom detached houses and three bedroom bungalows cost around £440,000 are being built on Burton Hill, Malmesbury.

The houses encompass solar panels, air source heat pumps and high levels of insulation so they can create all the energy they need to run.

According to the House Builders Federation Watt a Save report in 2022, the homes emit no net carbon in use, a marked reduction from the 3.7 tonnes of CO2 emitted per annum by the average UK home.

Developers have added hedgehog highways, wildflower meadows and woodland plants in their considerations of local wildlife.

Graham Winterbourne, from Strakers estate agents, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Newland Homes on ‘White Poplars’.

"It’s no secret that Malmsbury’s bustling high street with its rich history, award-winning schools, variety of boutiques, coffee shops and the weekly farmers market is a huge draw for house buyers.

"The ability to combine living within a ten minute walk of the market town, near the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds, whilst also owning an energy efficient new home is something I believe will appeal to many people.”

A show home will be open this summer.
