COTSWOLD District Council has been named the 10th best district council in England for recycling according to government figures.

The council has achieved a recycling rate of 59.2% for the year 2021/2022.

This is an improvement from the 2020/21 results when the council only placed 16th with a recycling rate of 58.9%.

The council said they have ambitious targets to protect the environment and has promoted recycling and reduce waste across the district.

Leader of the Cotswold District Counci Council Joe Harris said: "I’m delighted that Cotswold District Council has been named the 10th best district council in England for recycling.

"Overall we’re 14th when judged against all councils including Unitary authorities which is a fantastic achievement.

“It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our residents who have made recycling a priority and sort their recycling into different boxes and bags which we know can be a bit of a faff.

"We are committed to protecting our environment, and recycling is an important part of that effort."
