AN EXCITING event is taking place in Malmesbury this weekend.
The Big Malmesbury Craft Fair will transform the Old School Room in Malmesbury Town Hall into a creative haven between 11am - 3pm this Saturday, March 25.
This craft fair first was founded by Issac Owen four years ago with an aim to become a creative hub which brings local crafters together.
It is now run by Susie Evans and Jude Lewis who are excited about this week's event.
There will be 20 stalls which sell a range of products including everything from chocolatiers to quilters to wood turners.
Organiser Jude said: "We are constantly in awe of the breadth of talents that are around the town.
"We feel we are a bit different to other fairs in that we are committed to encouraging new crafters who need a helping hand.
"If you have never displayed your work before, it can be daunting.
"However, we are here to support people through the process – from their initial enquiry to buddying up with other crafters on the day of the fair.
"We are super friendly with a great sense of humour!!"
She added: "We hope that visitors will come to our wonderful town to visit the fair, but also to explore the town.
"We have many independent shops that our crafters use – therefore we have the perfect circular economy."
Malmesbury town encompasses a range of independent shops including the Fabric Shack (fabric and wool), Renew (sustainable and eco products including workshops), Caerbladon (art supplies) and The Cake Tin (baking supplies).
The Big Malmesbury Craft Fair is all about showcasing local talents and helping the community.
Founder Isaac used the profits from last year's fairs to do a big supermarket shop for Malmesbury & District Foodbank which Jude and Susie hope to continue in the future.
They also plan on hosting mini workshops in the future and want to do story profile some of the stall holders.
The Big Malmesbury Craft Fair is held on the last Saturday of every month.
