A CIRENCESTER restaurant is celebrating National Yorkshire Pudding Day by giving one lucky customer a Yorkshire pudding the size of their plate.

Téatro Bar and Restaurant is opening for Sunday lunches again from Sunday, February 5, which coincidentally, is National Yorkshire Pudding Day.

One customer, booked in on that first Sunday in February, chosen at random by head chef, Sam North, will get the giant Yorkie.

Téatro Manager Ryan Walters said: “Who does not like Yorkshire pudding?”

“They epitomise a Sunday and are part of British culinary history. It is a simple recipe but so many get it wrong. They are the crown to the Sunday roast.

“Sunday lunch is one of those meals that we all look forward to, a time for sitting and dining with friends and family.

“We are looking forward to opening on Sundays again and welcoming you all to, what we believe will be a great Sunday lunch.”

In 1737 the first recipe for dripping pudding was recorded and published in the book The Whole Duties of a Woman, since then the British Sunday favourite has been used not just with roast beef but with salmon and even as part of desserts.

Téatro is situated in Ingleside House Hotel.
