A COMMUNITY hero has picked up another accolade for his hard work.
Malmesbury resident Ben Thornbury, aged 17, has spoken of his pride after receiving a prestigious award.
The High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Lady Lansdowne - who read about Ben in the Standard - presented him with an award for his hard work in the town.
"It was a pleasure to receive a visit from the High Sheriff last week," said Ben.
"I never would have expected her to find out about the clearing up of Filands Play Park back in August.
"I have received an overwhelming response and so many people sending me their congratulations.
"This continues to motivate me to continue cleaning the town in my spare time at weekends when I am not working.
"Just on Wednesday last week I was out gritting the paths and everyone was so appreciative.
"That’s what makes me keep wanting to help the town."
About the award, Malmesbury mayor Kim Power said: "All too often people who quietly go about making a difference go without being thanked.
"So, I just wanted to say thanks to all those who help others or contribute in some way to make Malmesbury the great community it is."
