Commuters hoping to catch a train to Bristol and the west are facing severe disruption this morning.

The Great Western mainline is currently blocked between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads.

Persistent rain over the last few days has resulted in flooding and as a result, trains cannot run.

The disruption is also having an impact on services to London as trains that started in Bristol cannot get to their destination.

A spokesperson for GWR, said: “Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads, all lines are blocked.

“Train services running through these stations will be diverted.

“Disruption is expected until 10:00.”
