A DEDICATED group which has raised over £45,000 for good causes in Cirencester has announced that it will be taking a break after two years of non-stop fundraising.

Stratton Superstars was set up two years ago to encourage people of all age groups back into fitness related activities and to raise money for charity.

The group raised £25,123 in just six-months last year with over 350 people taking part in various activities - including a step challenge, festival of football, running 31 miles in a month, Zumba, a race night and a fun run.

Fundraising coordinator, Jon Cummins, said: “We have smashed every goal we have set in terms of numbers of overall participants and the donations generated.

“After two successful years, where over £45,000 has been raised, the Superstars will now pause.

“The £45,000 will make a huge difference to the various recipients so I’d like to thank everyone who took part, who donated as well as lead sponsor, EvieLife, and Stratton House Hotel for the use of their facilities.

“We are looking to relaunch the Superstars so it coincides with Stratton Youth’s 50th anniversary in 2025 with the target of beating 2022’s £25,000 total.”

Money will be split across Stratton Youth Football Club, Stratton Pre-school, Stratton School, Cirencester Foodbank, Cirencester Housing for Young People and other grassroots sporting clubs.
