A PUB in the area has received a top honour at a prestigious national awards competition.

The Royal Oak in Tetbury has nabbed the top spot of UK Destination Pub at the Muddy Stiletto Awards. 

It was voted the best beating pubs from 28 other counties. 

Pub owner Chris York said: “I am immensely proud to have been awarded the Muddy Stilettos UK Destination Pub 2022. 

“The Royal Oak Tetbury is proud to be part of our great community. 

“Our focus remains to be the best we can and serve our great patrons.

“Thank you to the judging panel at Muddy Stilettos and all the wonderful businesses nominated across the categories. 

“This is an award shared with our great enthusiastic and dedicated staff without which it would have been impossible to achieve.  

“We look forward to continuing this work as we celebrate ten years of TROT in 2023. 

The 18th century inn free house reopened in August 2013 after a restoration and serves regional and guest real ales as well as delicious food.

The awards are run by women’s lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos which recognises local businesses. 

This year, 75,000 businesses were nominated, with 27 winners recognised in the national category, including the Royal Oak.
