A Cotswold hotel has launched its own house gin.

The Old Stocks Inn in Stow has teamed up with Cheltenham-based Brennen and Brown to create its own unique gin.

The ‘Old Stocks Ginn’ will be used in the hotel’s range of classic cocktails and is available to purchase at The Old Stocks’ cocktail lounge which opened in 2021.

Pete Simpson, the hotel’s deputy manager and the driving force behind the spirit’s creation, said: “We wanted to create something that would perfectly distil the fun and inventive spirit of The Old Stocks, and our new gin does exactly that.

“It will become our house gin, used in classic cocktails like martinis and negronis, and its robust flavour makes it ideal to pair with tonic.

“The main flavour profile is a nice herbal note from bay leaves followed by a lingering spiciness from pink peppercorn and finished with a hint of citrus and oregano.

“We’re already known for our delicious drinks and exciting cocktail combinations and we can’t wait for guests and thirsty locals to try our unique gin.”

The gin is the latest drinks venture by the Old Stocks team.

As well as the cocktail lounge, the team released the Old Stocks Little Book of Cocktails in 2019, sharing the secrets of their most popular drinks.

Mr Simpson added: “We like to go above and beyond what’s expected of a hotel. Since we opened in 2015, we’ve consistently pushed at the boundaries to give our guests and local residents something exciting and out of the ordinary to enjoy when they visit.

“By teaming up with Brennen & Brown – who we’ve had a great relationship with since 2015 - we’re building on this reputation further and adding another special touch to what we offer, while also creating new revenue streams for us as a business.”

The 17th-century coaching inn was transformed with a multi-million-pound renovation in 2015.
