A FESTIVE craft session in aid of a frontline Ukrainian hospital is set to take place next week.

Organised by Malmesbury Stands with Ukraine the crafting session is being hosted by two local expert crafters, Cllr Frances Smith and Jackie Peel.

Attendees will make their own seasonal decorations, including some with Ukrainian themes.

The group is currently fundraising to support the Cherkassy Hospital in central Ukraine where they are treating wounded and injured civilians and soldiers.

Over £4,000 has already been raised in Malmesbury for the hospital so far this year.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Christmas is a very important time for families.

“Many Ukrainians who have fled their homes are preparing for their first Christmas in Malmesbury and surrounding villages, away from loved ones.

“So, we know this will be a poignant and difficult one for our Ukrainian guests away from their homes and loved ones.

“We will do our best to help our hosts make their first Christmas in the Malmesbury area as happy as possible with a special event for adults and children, open to all."

The event will also have festive Ukrainian nibbles and mulled wine for adults.

Tickets are £12.50 for adults and £5 for children.

The event will take place on Friday, November 25 at the Riverside Community Centre in Gloucester Road at 6.30pm.
