A MAN from Stroud has been charged with murder after the body of a woman was found dead in a flat in the town.

Joe Rankin, 33 and of Langtoft Road, Stroud, was remanded in custody to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court later today.

The victim has now been identified as 40-year-old Emma Potter, who was found dead by officers at her home in Chapel Street at around 4.15pm on Friday 4 November, after concerns were raised by a neighbour.

The death was initially treated as being unexplained, but the results of a post-mortem examination led to a murder investigation being opened.

Emma's body is believed to have been undiscovered for some time.

The Major Crime Investigation Team is still keen to hear from anyone who has any relevant information which could assist, in particular anyone who knew Emma.
