Tetbury’s Big Book Weekend is set to return next month.

Tetbury Goods Shed will host a dozen events from Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 11, which have been organised by the Yellow-Lighted Bookshop.

"It’s brilliant to be able to bring authors back to the town," said the bookshop’s owner Hereward Corbett.

"Festivals are great ways of bringing people together, discovering new interests, and simply enjoying yourself.

"Cultural and scientific debates don’t just happen in bigger towns and cities, they are part of rural life as well.

"We’ve got a mixed programme of events, and we hope that there will be something for most people to enjoy.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

As well as the 12 book events, there is a screening of Eric Ravilious – Drawn to War, the acclaimed documentary film featuring Grayson Perry, Alan Bennett and others, which looks at Ravilious’ life, art and influence.

There is also a one-man play based on Robert Tressell's classic political novel, The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists.

"From Eric Ravilious and the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists through to Natalie Haynes and DH Lawrence, via soil science and the history of mapping, we’ve deliberately tried to achieve a slightly eclectic mix of subjects and speakers," said Hereward.

"We’re also very excited to be bringing a proper book tent along this time as well!

"Ticket prices are the same as they were in 2019, which is incredible value for money, especially when you look at the quality of what’s on offer.

"And if we end up making a profit, we will be using some of that to fund support for books for the children of families who have to use the foodbank at Christmas."

This year's festival only has events for adults, but Hereward is hoping to offer offer a week of events for both children and adults next year.

Plans are also in place for Nailsworth Book Festival in the spring, where there will be new set of speakers and topics.

Tickets are available online at ylbevent.link/bigbookweekend, or via Tetbury Goods Shed, and there are discounts available for daily bookings.
