A SPECIALIST technical college in Berkeley is celebrating a fantastic set of results.

Over half of the year group applied to study STEM subjects at university and were all successful in securing their first choice places.

Berkeley Green UTC is a STEM specialist school offering traditional academic subjects alongside technical qualifications in engineering, digital technologies and cyber security.

The other half of the year group are continuing onto apprenticeships and other employment, with many achieving degree level apprenticeships and some at major companies.

Incredibly proud

Headteacher Gareth Lister said the year group had a 'difficult educational experience' due to the pandemic and restrictions.

Mr Lister said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 13 students.

“They have had a difficult educational experience over the past few years due to the Covid restrictions in place and for many students the exams sat this year were their first opportunity to sit formal exams.

“Their resilience and positive attitude has been inspiring.

“Our students are leaving us not only with brilliant qualifications, but also with the personal and professional skills they need to flourish in their future careers.”
