FORMER Worcester City forward Colby Bishop has enjoyed a sparkling start to life with League One side Portsmouth.

The 25-year-old striker has scored four goals in as many appearance for Pompey since his move to the club in the summer, including a brace of goals in the 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town at the weekend.

The fans have already adopted the 'he wears a magic hat' song for their new striker and the chant was frequently belted out throughout the afternoon. He even celebrated his second goal by putting an imaginary hat on his head!

Bishop scored a goal on debut in the 3-3 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on opening day and was also on target in the 3-0 away win at Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup last week.

Bishop played for Worcester back in the 2016/17 season before going on to join Leamington and then Football League outfit Accrington Stanley, where he scored 32 goals in just over 100 appearances.

He was reportedly set to join Championship side Blackpool before that move fell through and Pompey were able to swoop in and sign the striker, where he has settled in incredibly quickly.

Former Premier League forward Jamie Mackie said he will score "bundles of goals" in League One.

He claimed: "He’s (Bishop's) already got three league goals. Sheffield Wednesday struggled with him on the opening day and, again, Cheltenham found it really difficult to deal with him.

"I think he’s going to get bundles in this league and he took both of his goals well on Saturday."
