WORCESTER City boss Tim Harris confirmed that new summer signing Darragh Bustin has suffered an ACL injury that is likely to rule him out for the majority of the 2022/23 season.

Bustin, signed from Tividale ahead of the new campaign, was injured during the pre-season clash with Cinderford in July.

Harris is hopeful the winger come full-back will return but admits it is a blow.

"Darragh is out for the large majority of the season," he said.

"It's a blow but we dealt with injuries a lot last season and we will deal with them again.

"I feel for the lad as he has got some quality, he would give us a threat with his left-foot and long-throw. But he has done his ACL and he will now need an operation."

As a result, Harris signed a new left-back, Lucas Powell, from Stratford Town on loan ahead of the game on Saturday.

With Sam Whitton out with a hamstring injury and other wing-back Callum debar also out, left-back is an area of concern for Harris.

"Yes, we needed to bring someone in," added the manager.

"Lucas trained on Thursday and he has a bit of quality but he needs game time, he was running on empty towards the end."
