THREE candidates are running for upcoming elections at the Tetbury Town Council.

Two town councillors are due to be elected following the results of the elections which are to be held on Thursday, June 30 between 7am and 10pm.

The Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre in Cirencester Road and The Dolphins Hall in New Church Street are the locations for the two polling stations.

The three candidates are Liz Farnham, Tom Hall-Wilson and Ian Watson.

Ms Farnham served as a town councillor for seven years and also spent a term as Mayor.

"Unfortunately I had to stand down due to the pressure of work," she said.

"I am now able to give the role of Councillor the time it deserves.

"I joined Tetbury town council to make a difference, to protect what we have, help provide what we need and to improve local services.

"That is still the aim.

"There is still much to do to provide the community facilities our town needs and deserves."

Tom Hall-Wilson is a former army Captain who moved to Tetbury two years ago.

"I would bring youth, enthusiasm and fresh eyes to the council," he said.

"I want to address some of the speed limits in the town as well as representing and supporting local businesses.

"Me and my wife are expecting our first child so now seems the perfect time for me to get involved with shaping the future of the town for the better.

"I aim to make sure that Tetbury remains a destination for visitors while also serving residents."

Finally, Ian Watson - who plays an active part in the community through his work at the Tetbury Community Fridge or being a governor at Sir William Romney's School - came to the town about three years ago.

"I was not disappointed at finding myself in the green heart of the Cotswolds and the welcoming, friendly townsfolk.

"I soon felt at home.

"I offer to Tetbury a commitment and enthusiasm to care for this beautiful town and its people.

"At the same time I want to push for prosperity and growth in a wholly sustainable way.

"I believe my experience in analysis problem-solving and leadership will benefit Tetbury and its townsfolk."
