Do you know an individual or group that has made a positive difference to the Cirencester community over the last two years?

This is the last week to enter or nominate for the Cirencester Community Awards.

After two years of COVID-19, during which volunteers and community organisations have gone the extra mile to help others, this year it is especially important to thank them and celebrate their achievements alongside those of the business community.

The awards are being jointly held with the Cirencester Business Awards at a ceremony on July 22. The evening will be a unique opportunity for charitable and voluntary organisations to get together with local businesses, and to make new connections and recognise and reward individuals and organisations in the town.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

The Church of St John the Baptist in Cirencester Market Place will be transformed into a massive banqueting hall.

Guests will enjoy food and drink provided by local suppliers and there will also be a pay bar for those who want to sample more of the drinks on offer.

Adam Vines, president of Cirencester Chamber of Commerce, said: “With over 300 attendees from both the business and residential communities, it’s a chance to celebrate what makes the town and its people so special after two difficult years.

"By their very nature volunteers tend not to self-promote what they do for their community, that’s why we need members of the public to step forward and nominate someone who has made an impact."

The community awards are: Volunteer of the Year, Environmental Project of the Year, Daniel Bingham Award for Community Project of the Year and Cirencester Town Council Significant Contribution of the Year.

The business awards are: Large Business of the Year (with more than 20 employees), Small Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Team of the Year, Young Enterprise of the Year (applicants must be 25 or under), Business in the Community and Apprentice of the Year.
