CLARKSON'S Farm star Kaleb Cooper is hosting a free pizza and cider event today (Saturday).

The event is being held this afternoon to launch Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb's new Hawkstone Cider.

The launch is taking place at The Cotswolds Brewing Company (College Farm, Stow Rd, Cheltenham GL54 2HN).

The event is open to the public and attendees will be treated to free cider and stone-baked pizza.

Following Hawkstone Lager launching in late 2021 and immediately climbing to the number one spot on Amazon’s beer charts, Kaleb and Jeremy decided Hawkstone Cider launch was the next logical step.

No one is more excited than Kaleb himself, who has consistently made his preference for cider over beer very public.

He said: “Traditional cider apple varieties aren’t easy to come by… not good ones anyway. Over the last 60 years over 90% of England's traditional orchards have disappeared, with many older varieties lost.

"Hawkstone cider won’t be super-sweet disco-fizz - I’m doing cider right by starting with the best heritage apple varieties. These apples are so important, which is why I’m partnering with farmers across the country who share my passion, to plant more apple orchards (including one on my own farm) and create a cider that, while hard to make, is easy to drink.”

, produced using apples grown within a 50-mile radius of the brewery.

Following Hawkstone Lager launching in late 2021 and immediately climbing to the number 1 spot in Amazon’s beer charts, the Hawkstone Cider launch is the next logical step for the Cotswolds-based brand. No one is more excited than Cooper himself, who has consistently made his preference for cider over beer very public.

To develop, test and produce the new cider, Hawkstone has partnered with Guy Lawrence, a fifth-generation Westons cider-maker whose family-owned cider mill dates to the 1880s. Historically, Westons don’t use any apples from Oxfordshire, and this is something that Cooper wanted to put right when making Hawkstone Cider.

Made using bittersweet and bitter sharp cider apples, Hawkstone Cider will also include varieties from Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, such as Dabinet, Michelin, Brown Snout, Strawberry Norman and Slack-ma-Girdle. While they take more care and yield less fruit than commercial varieties, their high sugar and tannin levels create a cider that’s full of flavour and character.
