A Malmesbury drink-driver who failed to stop after damaging another car has been hit with a ban.

Gary Clarke, of Hobbes Close, has been disqualified from driving for 22 months.

He had 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath after driving a Volkswagen Golf on Parklands, Malmesbury, on January 30. The legal limit is 35.

The 37-year-old failed to stop after causing damage to another vehicle on the same road.

Clarke pleaded guilty to both offences at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 9.

He was fined a total of £280 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

His driving ban will be reduced by 168 days if a drink-drive rehabilitation course is completed.
