An artist and a photographer from Cirencester have teamed up to showcase their work in a a collaborative exhibition.

Abigail Waddell and Stephen Shepherd are putting their work on display at the Corinium Museum.

Transient Light and The Landscape will explore the fleeting and changing nature of light in the landscape, shown in a series of works by each artist.

Winner of the British Contemporary Art Awards 2021, Abigail is a contemporary landscape painter working mainly in oils.

Living in Cirencester, she is inspired by the landscapes of the Cotswolds when out walking in local fields, villages and towns, as well as other areas of the UK.

Often sketching and painting in the open air she favours oils for landscapes or sea in which the light and in particular the clouds demand an impressionistic approach.

“I am excited to be exhibiting my work in my home town with Stephen," she said.

"I hope that this collaborative exhibition will offer a chance for the visitor to view artwork and photographs that hopefully capture that transient moment of light as it moves across the landscape.”

Photographer Stephen Shepherd has spent 25 years working on documentary led projects for all national press titles as well as corporate and marketing clients.

He offers an alternative view to traditional landscape photography, creating abstract images with bold colours, and working in a documentary style in the landscape, rarely returning to the same spot twice.
