The tap room bar and restaurant at the Old New Inn in Bourton-on-the-Water has reopened today.

It follows the completion of £600,000 three-year renovation and refurbishment.

The Grade II listed building on Rissington Road adjoins the model village and also includes nine hotel rooms.

Owners Andrew and Julie Lund-Yates, bought both the hotel and model village back in 2018. The hotel and dining operation at the venue had been closed for a decade until the hotel rooms and breakfast room relaunched in 2019, ahead of the tap room bar and restaurant redevelopment.

Ten jobs have been created, with head chef Jason Hyatt bringing more than 20 years of experience in working in Cotswold restaurants.

The new menu will feature local produce and a high proportion of non-meat options.

Andrew said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome diners back into The Old New Inn as we share the realisation of our vision.

“When we purchased the hotel and model village back in 2018, we knew there was huge potential to breathe new life into what was a rather tired property – we’ve been told that it really felt like the heart of the village had stopped beating when the doors closed more than a decade ago.

“The Tap Room Bar and Restaurant has been re-awakened and is now brimming with character and an incredible food and beverage offering, prepared and served by our fantastic new team.

“We can’t wait to welcome guests back into the venue to showcase the exciting and sympathetic changes and allow them to experience the freshest, in-season produce and local ingredients across our menus.”

Joining as food and beverage manager, Alex Szabo brings with him a wealth of hospitality experience, which includes leading The Five Alls in Filkins, Lechlade to win Pub of the Year 2016 and Best Dining Pub in 2018.

The Old New Inn Tap Room Bar and Restaurant is taking bookings for lunch Wednesday to Saturday 12-5pm, Sunday 12-5pm and evening meals Wednesday to Saturday 6pm-8.30pm.
