A Cirencester man has been arrested on suspicion of committing more than 50 shed break-ins.

There has been a spate of burglaries in the Cotswolds in recent weeks and officers from the Cotswold Neighbourhood Policing Team apprehended the suspect after he was spotted by a dual carriageway near Cirencester.

As well as the shed break-ins, the 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of multiple shopliftings and commercial burglaries. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Simon Ellson, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Cotswolds said: "Our team is working hard to gather and collate evidence in connection with this large spate of burglaries in Cirencester.

"We are continuing to ask the public to submit any information they may feel is relevant to assist us with the ongoing investigation."
