A 58-year-old man who was found with a kitchen knife on Aylesbury Street has received a 10 week suspended prison sentence.
Memet Edikci, of Commercial Road, was found guilty of possessing a knife blade in a public place on May 11 last year.
The offence was so serious he was given a 10 week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
He is under curfew with electronic monitoring for eight weeks and must stay at his property between 7pm and 8am.
He must pay £428 for the crime after Swindon Magistrates' Court ordered him to pay £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £128 to fund victim services.
He must comply with the instructions of a responsible officer or participate in activities required for up to 20 days.
The knife must be forfeited and destroyed.
