A RAIL passenger faces a whopping bill for dodging fares on 28 journeys.
Stewart Orton, 58, of Market Place, Northleach, has been ordered to pay a total of £1,871 after failing to pay a £966 fare.
Oxford Magistrates Court heard last Friday, November 19 how Orton made 28 journeys on Chiltern Railways without paying.
Orton did not attend the hearing.
The journeys were made between March 20, 2020 and May 16, 2021 contrary to the Regulation of Railways Act 1889.
Orton was fined £660 and must pay compensation of £966 to the rail company plus a £66 statutory victim surcharge and £179 in costs.
The total amount of £1,871 must be paid by December 3.
